Youth For Peace Mindanao

My friend Ayyi invited me to join the Youth For Peace (YFP) meeting. I was hesitant at first because I will be busy with work in an hour, just before the meeting would start. But Ayyi’s a good friend of mine and Rhon too and so, I made a choice to join and support them. Rhon and I arrived late but the meeting haven’t started yet so, it’s alright, hehe… I saw Coi when we arrived, another good friend of ours, and I waved when I saw Ayyi… There were already a few people sitting in a semi-circle right in the middle. After signing up, we looked for a seat…

The attendees were youths from different groups and organization. We started by introducing ourselves; answering the questions ‘Who Am I’? and ‘Why Am I Here?’. I’m not really into like this, telling other people who I am, what I do and etc., so I was caught into the situation but I have managed to tell a few things about myself. Ayyi told them that I am a Davao Blogger and she shared to us that she has a German friend who have searched in the internet first about Davao before going here and he had stumble into one Dabawenyo blog and told Ayyi that there were beautiful places here in Davao City and in Mindanao worth going to. I was happy to have known that, it is one of our aim, to change the way people think about Mindanao and let them see the real beauty of our land through our blogs. I’m really happy that through our blogs, we have contributed something for our society. Now, I’m getting excited and inspired to blog more, hehehe…

Anyways, having the ‘World Cafe’ activity was a  fun experience. Hearing other people’s thoughts on the issues around us and also be able to share your own thoughts too. I didn’t have any regrets in joining YFP (kahit na-late ako sa work, lol), it was a fun and fulfilling meet-up and I am happy to have met new faces… Looking forward for our team building next month.
