

What is a Toven Specimen? A Toven Specimen is a one cent coint made of aluminum, proposed by the United States Mint in 1973. Over a million of these coin were minted but only two coins were reamined and found. The first coin is now owned by the Smithsonian Institution and the other one is owned by the Toven Family. It is said that a congressional guard named Toven found one coin on the floor. He tried to return the coin to the member of Congress who dropped it but the congressman didn’t want it.
