Who is Jeanne Eagels? Born in Kansas City on June 26, 1890, Jeanne Eagels was an American actress who was famous on Broadway and in several motion pictures and also in the emerging medium of sound films. In 1929, She was considered for the Academy Award for Best Actress for her role in The Letter but the Oscar went to Mary Pickford for the film Coquette. She died at the age of 39, evidences on the cause of her death pointed to the effects of alcohol or heroin.
